Sightseeing

A twisting, black water lane bordered on both sides by a waterlogged prairie of spartina grass, Beach Creek practically cuts nearby Cumberland Island in two. Follow the creek from Cumberland Sound on the island's Westside, and a pristine barrier island opens itself to anyone interested in a peek at a salt marsh. Cumberland Island’s beach is a great place to look and listen at Mother Nature.

Idling up the Creek you can expect to find Black Crowned Night Herons, Wood Storks, and great Blue Herons roosting in trees.  Most often the wild horses that inhabit the island can be seen wandering  the shoreline.  Dungeness Mansion, a 19th century island retreat, built by industrialist Thomas Carnegie is also visible via the chimney pots of the burned out ruins.

The route and direction for sightseeing or touring is your choice.  We can offer suggestions but it’s up to you.

Our trips depart on your schedule (sometimes dependent on tides).  The rate is hourly and accommodates six or fewer guests.  Just bring your enthusiasm, snacks and drinks, sunscreen, hat (suggested) and camera.  Cooler and ice are provided.
